The Cable Preacher Curl exercise is a variation of the traditional preacher curl, but instead of using a barbell, you use a cable machine with a preacher curl attachment. This exercise is great for isolating and targeting the biceps while providing constant tension throughout the movement.
How to perform
Step by step instructions:1. Adjust the height of the preacher curl attachment on the cable machine so that the pad is at chest level when seated on the bench.
2. Sit on the bench and place your upper arms against the pad with your chest upright and shoulders back. Grab the straight bar attachment with an underhand grip, slightly wider than shoulder-width apart.
3. Make sure your arms are fully extended and your elbows are slightly bent. This is your starting position.
4. Keeping your upper arms against the pad, exhale and curl the barbell towards your shoulders by contracting your biceps. Keep your wrists straight throughout the movement.
5. Hold the peak contraction for a moment, then slowly lower the barbell back to the starting position while inhaling.
6. Repeat for the desired number of repetitions.
7. Once you have completed your set, carefully release the barbell and return it to the starting position.
Tip: To maximize the effectiveness of this exercise, make sure to focus on using proper form and controlled movements. Avoid using momentum or swinging the weight, and keep tension on the biceps throughout the exercise.
Equipment required
Cable
Cable equipment consists of adjustable pulleys attached to weight stacks that allow for resistance training. This equipment is commonly used for strength training exercises that target various muscle groups in the body, such as chest, back, arms, and legs. Cable equipment provides a versatile and functional way to perform exercises that mimic real-life movements, improving muscle endurance, stability, and coordination.
