Training progress isn’t just about what you lift — it’s about how you lift it and how well you recover. That’s why we’ve rolled out two closely linked improvements in Aspira Fitness: a redesigned rest timer experience and clearer, more meaningful RPE logging. Together, they help you train with intent, recover properly between sets, and build a more accurate picture of your performance over time.

A Rest Timer That Works With You

The rest timer has been rebuilt from the ground up to remove friction and keep you focused on your workout — not your phone.

What’s new?

Full-screen, distraction-free countdown
The timer now takes centre stage, making it easy to glance at remaining rest without hunting through the interface.

Clear next-step context
You’ll always know what’s coming up next — whether that’s another set of the same exercise or moving on entirely.

Manual control, when you need it
Finished early? Tap Next and carry on. Need more recovery? Let the timer run. Want to stop entirely? Close it without triggering the next set.

Built for real training, not rigid rules
Rest times aren’t always exact. The new UI reflects how people actually train — flexible, responsive, and interruption-free.

The goal is simple: rest should support performance, not interrupt it.

RPE Logging That Actually Means Something

Alongside the timer update, we’ve refined how RPE (Rate of Perceived Exertion) is logged — so it’s clearer, more consistent, and genuinely useful.

What is RPE?

RPE is a way of describing how hard a set felt, not just how heavy it was.

  • Lower RPE → more reps left in the tank

  • Higher RPE → closer to failure

Instead of arbitrary numbers, Aspira now presents RPE values in a way that reflects real training language — for example, “challenging but controlled” versus “near maximal effort”.

Why this matters

Better long-term insight
Two identical lifts can feel very different on different days. RPE captures that context.

Smarter progression tracking
You can see whether strength gains are coming from better efficiency, improved capacity, or simply pushing harder.

Optional — but encouraged
Some workouts now require RPE logging to ensure effort is recorded properly, especially where intensity matters more than raw load.

RPE turns your logs from what you did into how it actually felt — and that’s where the real insights live.

Designed to Work Together

The updated timer and RPE logging aren’t separate features — they’re designed as a pair.

  • Rest long enough → performance improves

  • Performance improves → RPE becomes more accurate

  • Accurate RPE → better training decisions over time

By tightening the feedback loop between rest, effort, and logging, Aspira gives you cleaner data and a smoother training flow.

Train With Intent

These updates are about respecting how people really train:

  • Not rushing rest

  • Not guessing effort

  • Not fighting the UI mid-workout

Whether you’re chasing strength, size, or consistency, the new timer and RPE logging help every set count — without getting in your way.

As always, we’ll keep refining based on real-world use. If you’ve got feedback, we’re listening.

Train smart. Recover well. Log honestly. 💪
